Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) is finalizing plans for a new program that would allow members of the public to access airport restaurants and shops without purchasing an airline ticket.

Airport officials are working with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to establish a non-passenger dining program that would permit approved visitors to enter the secure side of the terminal after completing a background check and security screening. The initiative would provide access to dining and retail options located beyond airport checkpoints.

The program is being developed following a major expansion of food and beverage offerings at SRQ. Over the past year, the airport has added several new restaurants, bars, and retail concepts as part of a terminal concessions upgrade designed to enhance the passenger experience. New additions include local and national brands such as Wahlburgers, Mattison’s, Motorworks Brewing, Huey Magoo’s, and other food and beverage venues.

Airport officials have said the guest-pass concept could allow local residents, aviation enthusiasts, and visitors accompanying travelers to enjoy the airport’s expanded dining options without needing to book a flight. Similar programs already operate at several airports across the United States under TSA oversight.

Specific details, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, and the number of daily passes that may be issued, are still being finalized. Airport leaders have not announced a launch date but indicated discussions with federal security officials are ongoing.

SRQ has experienced significant growth in recent years, serving a record number of passengers in 2025. Airport officials say continued improvements to dining, retail, and terminal amenities are intended to accommodate increasing demand while expanding services available to travelers and visitors.
