The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority is set to announce the purchase of two boats for a revamped ferry service connecting Tampa and St. Petersburg.
Tampa and Pinellas County officials approved the new Tampa Bay Ferry service in April, agreeing to spend $4.8 million to purchase and renovate the two vessels.
The move follows the end of the previous Cross Bay Ferry service in April 2025. That service operated with only one boat, which limited it from running seven days a week.
The new service is expected to run all week and year-round, linking downtown Tampa and downtown St. Petersburg. Hubbard’s Marina will operate the service.
PSTA CEO Brad Miller said the agency is focused on building a sustainable, long-term operation and credited the Hubbard’s Marina team for its work on the project.
