Filming is underway for a holiday romance movie at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Pinellas County.

Production on “Christmas in Clearwater,” from Country Mile Entertainment, entered its second week as of late May 2026. The film combines a romantic storyline with the aquarium’s mission of animal rescue, rehabilitation, and release, with a particular focus on dolphins and seals.

The story follows hometown woman Diane Kelly (played by Katrina Norman), who returns to Clearwater and rekindles a relationship with veterinarian Dr. Lewis Ford (played by Ignacyo Matynia). Together, they work to protect the aquarium from corporate threats while highlighting the facility’s conservation efforts.

Director Lindsay Hartley noted that the project aims to showcase the aquarium’s care for the animals and inspire viewers. Clearwater Marine Aquarium CEO Joe Handy said the film spotlights the beauty of Clearwater and the community’s spirit.

The movie is expected to be released in December 2026 in time for the holiday season.
