Florida travelers should brace for heavy traffic as this Memorial Day weekend gets underway. AAA projects nearly 2.7 million Floridians will travel over the five-day holiday period beginning Thursday — an increase of roughly 200,000 people compared to last year.
The majority of those travelers are expected to drive to their destinations, while the remainder will fly.
Nationally, AAA forecasts that about 45 million Americans will travel over the holiday weekend, setting a new Memorial Day travel record.
