Tropical Storm Lorenzo continues to weaken in the central Atlantic and currently poses no threat to the U.S. mainland, according to forecasters.
Meteorologists say no new tropical systems are expected to form across the Atlantic basin within the next seven days. The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor the tropics, but conditions remain unfavorable for storm development at this time.
Lorenzo is expected to gradually lose strength as it moves northeast into cooler waters. The storm has stayed well away from land, bringing no direct impacts to the Caribbean or North America.
While tropical activity typically slows in October, forecasters note that storms can still form during the final weeks of hurricane season, which officially ends November 30.
The next name on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane list is Melissa.
