A tropical wave designated Invest 95L is being tracked off the coast of Africa and could develop into a tropical depression by mid-week, according to meteorologists.

The system has a 50% chance of developing over the next two days and a 70% chance over the next week. As of Monday morning, it was located a couple hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, with a weak center of circulation and disorganized thunderstorms attempting to organize.

If the system strengthens and receives a name, it will be called Jerry, making it the next named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

Computer models project Invest 95L moving near the Leeward Islands before curving north and staying well east of the United States.

The National Hurricane Center uses the term “invest” to identify areas being investigated for possible development into a tropical depression or storm within seven days.
