The Tampa City Council has unanimously approved $3.2 million in State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) funds to aid homeowners affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This funding will help residents with mortgage payments, home repairs, and insurance deductible costs.

Relief Package Details

  • Mortgage Assistance: Up to $5,000
  • Home Repairs: Up to $20,000
  • Insurance Deductible Reimbursements: Up to $10,000
  • Total Maximum Assistance per Household: $20,000

Supporting Homeowners

“We have to remember that some residents are still displaced, renting elsewhere while trying to repair their homes,” said Abbye Feeley, Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator. “These funds will help them stay afloat as they work to rebuild.”

The City of Tampa will partner with ICF Incorporated, LLC, to distribute the funds through an application process. Eligible residents will soon find more details on how to apply.

How to Qualify for Assistance

“Anything we can do to ease the burden on our neighbors struggling to recover after these devastating storms is an important step forward,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “I appreciate the City Council’s support for this initiative.”

To qualify, residents must live within Tampa city limits and meet income guidelines. Further information on the application process will be provided shortly. Stay tuned for updates as more details become available.
