Average gas prices in Florida have risen by 3.2 cents per gallon over the past week, according to a GasBuddy survey. This, was just after a recent drop, when the average price at the pump dropped modestly below $3 per gallon.
The survey, which included 8,237 gas stations across Florida, reported an average price of $3.11 per gallon According to a GasBuddy survey, average gas prices in Florida have risen by 3.2 cents per gallon over the past week.
Compared to a month ago, gas prices in Florida have increased by 4.3 cents per gallon and are up by 9.5 cents per gallon from a year ago.
“Several states saw gas prices jump or ‘cycle’ last week, a behavior where prices climb significantly after falling below a station’s replacement price. This led the national average to see little meaningful change from last week, with many states experiencing a slow decline, offsetting the few states that did see big jumps,” explained Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
In contrast, the price of diesel has decreased by 0.4 cents over the past week, standing at $3.516 per gallon, according to the survey.
GasBuddy price reports indicated that the cheapest gas station in Florida offered gas at $2.53 per gallon, while the most expensive was $4.49 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has decreased by 15.3 cents per gallon over the past month and is 27.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, based on GasBuddy data compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 gas stations across the U.S.
Current gas prices in surrounding areas are:
- Tampa: $3.15 per gallon
- Sarasota: $3.11 per gallon
- Cape Coral: $3.14 per gallon
“However, the good news is that those states that saw large jumps last week will likely see some of the biggest declines at the pump this week, paving the way for the national average to fall, potentially below $3 per gallon, just in time for Thanksgiving, with GasBuddy tracking 28 states already below that level,” De Haan added.
