Tampa will host its third-ever Red Bull Flugtag this Saturday, where fans can watch teams attempt flight in homemade aircraft from noon to 5 p.m. outside the Tampa Convention Center. City officials expect around 80,000 spectators to attend, so arriving early is encouraged.
Road closures will begin at 8 a.m., impacting areas along Bayshore Boulevard and Franklin Street. The West Platt Street Bridge and Harbour Island Bridge will also be closed. A full map of closures is available below.
Due to limited parking, the city recommends using public transportation. Options include parking in Ybor City and taking the free TECO Streetcar to Greco Plaza, HART Buses, the DASH service, scooters, or ride-sharing.
For a safe experience, attendees should avoid bringing these prohibited items:
- Weapons or firearms
- Drones
- Large or framed backpacks
- Alcohol or illegal drugs
- Glass containers
- Food, pets, tents
- No unauthorized vending
“Please exercise caution in and around the event as it will bring a large crowd of enthusiastic fans,” city leaders advised in a news release.
The Red Bull Flugtag previously landed in Tampa in 2008 and 2011.
