Florida state parks will waive admission fees from February 13 to 16 in celebration of George Washington’s birthday and America’s 250th anniversary, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced.

The four-day promotion, which runs over Presidents Day weekend, applies to day-use admission at most state parks statewide. Free admission excludes Skyway Fishing Pier State Park and Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park. Additional fees for overnight camping, special events, concessions, and vendor rentals will still apply.

Adventures Unbound by Guest Services is separately offering 50% off kayak rentals at 11 Florida State Park locations as a winter special. The participating parks include Blue Spring State Park, Crystal River Preserve State Park, Rainbow Springs State Park, and Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, among others.

The initiative aims to highlight Florida’s role during the Revolutionary era. During that period, British West Florida was described as the “fourteenth colony,” and several state parks preserve sites from that time, including plantation sites, frontier trading posts, and military forts.

Visitors can plan their trips at FloridaStateParks.org. Additional information about Florida’s 250th anniversary commemoration is available at America250FL.com.
