Three Bahama Breeze restaurants in the Tampa Bay area are set to be rebranded as part of a larger shift by their parent company, Darden Restaurants Inc., which is winding down the Caribbean-themed chain.
Darden announced that it will permanently close 14 of the 28 Bahama Breeze locations nationwide by April 5, 2026, and convert the remaining 14 to other restaurant brands it owns over the next 12 to 18 months.
The three Tampa Bay area Bahama Breeze restaurants are among those designated for “conversion” to different concepts, though Darden has not specified which brands will replace them.
Bahama Breeze, known for its Caribbean-inspired menu and tropical atmosphere, was founded in 1996. Darden’s portfolio also includes Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, and other casual-dining chains.
The company said the changes are part of a strategic review that concluded the Bahama Breeze brand is no longer a core focus for its business, and it expects the moves will not have a material effect on its overall financial performance.
Affected restaurants will continue operating until closures or temporary shutdowns for conversion occur during the transition period.
Here are the Tampa Bay area Bahama Breeze locations that are slated to be converted to other restaurant brands under Darden Restaurants’ plan:
Tampa Bay conversion locations:
- 3045 N. Rocky Point Drive East, Tampa, FL — Bahama Breeze restaurant in Tampa slated for conversion.
- 805 Brandon Town Center Drive, Brandon, FL — Bahama Breeze in Brandon scheduled to be rebranded.
These locations are expected to continue operating as Bahama Breeze while plans are made to convert them into other concepts from the Darden portfolio over the next 12–18 months. Darden has not yet disclosed which specific brands will replace these restaurants.
