The southbound lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge will be closed overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning for construction work.
The Florida Department of Transportation announced the closure will begin at 11 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, and lasts until 5 a.m. Thursday, January 29. The closure is needed to finalize the installation of overhead signage as part of the new southbound I-275 Howard Frankland Bridge project.
Drivers heading southbound on I-275 toward the bridge will need to detour at State Road 60 (Exit 39). Message boards and temporary signs will direct traffic around the closure via Memorial Highway, Courtney Campbell Causeway, Bayside Bridge, and Roosevelt Boulevard (SR 686).
Alternate routes include Kennedy Boulevard, Dale Mabry Highway, and Gandy Boulevard.
The closure, weather permitting, affects the bridge connecting Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
