Pasco County will begin enforcing new parking regulations for recreational vehicles and boat trailers on February 28, officials announced.

Under the new rules, RVs and trailers will be prohibited from parking in public right-of-way areas, which include streets, sidewalks, and grassy or paved areas adjacent to roadways.

Denise Sanderson, director of code compliance for Pasco County, said the regulations aim to ensure public safety and prevent public parking spaces from being used for vehicle storage. The county wants to make sure commercial and recreational vehicles are stored in lawful locations rather than occupying spaces intended for public use.

Violators will first receive a warning. Repeat offenders could face fines of up to $500 per day.

The regulations formalize what had previously been an unwritten rule in the county. Local residents and visitors, including those using popular waterfront areas like Anclote River Park, will need to find appropriate storage locations for their recreational vehicles and trailers.

Enforcement begins February 28.
