Florida ranked second in the nation for net inbound moves in 2025, according to U-Haul’s annual Growth Index, which tracks one-way moving transactions. The data, based on more than 2.5 million rentals, showed Florida behind only Texas in net gains of movers entering the state.
U-Haul reported that 50.6% of its customers entering Florida last year outnumbered the 49.4% who left, signaling strong migration into the state. Industry professionals in the Tampa Bay area said moving business was particularly busy at the end of 2025, and real estate agents noted the trend is visible in the market.
Local movers and realtors attributed Florida’s appeal to factors such as warm weather and state policies they describe as favorable for new residents. Tampa Bay realtors said increased housing inventory has helped absorb the influx without sharply driving up prices.
Texas retained the top spot on U-Haul’s list of growth states, with North Carolina and Tennessee also ranking high, while the index does not directly measure overall population or economic expansion.
