Hillsborough County has expanded its Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program to help low and moderate-income homeowners afford critical home repairs.
The initiative targets residents in unincorporated Hillsborough County who earn less than 80% of the median average income. Qualifying homeowners can receive up to $100,000 in funding, with the county conducting inspections to determine necessary repairs.
The program covers essential repairs including roofs, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC units, doors, walls and windows.
A community information meeting was held this week at Emanuel P. Johnson Recreation Center in Tampa to educate residents about eligibility requirements and the application process. Another session is scheduled for Thursday at Sadye Gibbs Martin Community Center in Plant City from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Brenda Vallecilla, Acting Director of Affordable Housing for Hillsborough County, said the program addresses community preservation needs while helping residents remain in their homes.
The application deadline is February 2, 2026. Additional details about eligibility guidelines are available on the Hillsborough County website.
