Tampa International Airport processed more than 90,000 passengers on Sunday, marking the peak travel day of the Thanksgiving holiday period.
The airport experienced significant disruptions during the post-Thanksgiving rush, with over 130 flight delays and 20 cancellations affecting morning travelers. Some passengers faced extended wait times, with delays stretching several hours beyond scheduled departure times.
Despite the delays, many air travelers reported smooth experiences navigating through the airport. Tampa International Airport ranks among the top five Thanksgiving destinations nationwide.
Airport officials are advising travelers departing later in the day to check flight status with their carriers before heading to the airport. The Sunday after Thanksgiving traditionally sees one of the highest passenger volumes of the year as holiday travelers return home.
