A strong cold front moving through the Tampa Bay area late Sunday into Monday morning is expected to bring well-below-normal temperatures, with Tuesday morning potentially approaching record lows.
The cold front will bring scattered showers late Sunday, then clear by mid-morning Monday. Northwest winds will gust up to 30 mph during the day on Monday and continue at 20-30 mph through Tuesday.
High temperatures on Monday will remain in the 60s, with continued cooling overnight. By Tuesday morning, Tampa could see temperatures near the record low of 40 degrees, with wind chills in the low to mid-30s. Areas north of Tampa are likely to experience morning lows in the 30s, and parts of Citrus and Hernando counties could approach freezing.
Tuesday’s high temperatures may struggle to reach 60 degrees in areas north of Tampa.
Conditions will begin to moderate Wednesday, with morning temperatures remaining chilly but afternoon highs climbing back into the 70s under sunny skies.
