The City of Tampa will begin accepting applications on November 17 for a new Homeowner Hurricane Assistance program designed to help residents recover from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
The program will provide up to $30,000 per household to families earning less than 140% of the area median income—approximately $160,000 or less for a family of four. Applicants must provide proof of income and either receipts for completed repairs or estimates from licensed contractors for work that still needs to be done.
According to Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator Abbye Feeley, the program serves two purposes: assisting homeowners who remain unable to repair their homes one year after the storms, and reimbursing those who completed repairs but exceeded income thresholds for the earlier Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program.
Tampa is funding the program through a combination of federal funds and its general fund. Residents who previously received awards from the Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program are not eligible for this new program.
