The Beachcomber hotel and adjacent Jimmy B’s Beach Bar will reopen Thursday evening, more than a year after sustaining severe damage from Hurricane Helene in September 2024.
The 102-room hotel features two heated pools, beach amenities, and a boardwalk-style bar with live music open to the public. Jimmy B’s is hosting a four-day welcome back event with live music and a Halloween party starting at 5 p.m.
The reopening comes as a relief to nearby businesses affected by reduced tourism. Odise Armata, owner of Odi’s Mediterranean Kitchen across from the hotel, said he has fallen behind on bills due to decreased foot traffic since the hurricanes. Armata, who has operated his restaurant for 18 years, said some local customers have not returned since the storms.
Several other major hotels on St. Pete Beach remain closed, including the Postcard Inn, Dolphin Beach Resort, and Bellwether Beach Resort.
