The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has completed a $143 million upgrade of the interchange between Interstate 75 (I-75) and U.S. Route 301 near Ellenton.
The project added new bridges, widened entrance and exit ramps, and expanded I-75 with additional lanes. FDOT says the improvements aim to ease traffic flow, reduce crashes, and improve overall driver safety.
Officials estimate approximately 50,000 vehicles pass through the interchange daily. With growth in the region expected to continue, the upgrade is intended to prepare the area for increased traffic.
Next up, FDOT plans to redesign the interchange at State Road 758 (Fruitville Road) with a diverging-diamond configuration to further improve efficiency and reduce delays during peak hours.
