Fort Lauderdale has been named the sixth least safe city in America, according to a recent WalletHub report that analyzed safety conditions across more than 180 U.S. cities.

The personal finance website compared cities across three key dimensions: home and community safety, natural disaster risk, and financial safety to determine where Americans can feel most protected against life’s hazards, including nonphysical forms of danger.

One of Fort Lauderdale’s most significant challenges identified in the report was that residents had one of the worst percentages of households with emergency savings.

The report also highlighted other Florida cities in its analysis. Port St. Lucie was identified as the safest city in Florida, ranking 10th nationally in the home and community safety category.

The study evaluated cities on multiple safety-related metrics, including crime rates, vulnerability to natural disasters like hurricanes, and financial stability indicators to create comprehensive safety rankings.
