The City of Tarpon Springs is waiving fees for “after-the-fact” building permits through December 31 to help residents bring storm-damaged properties up to code following last year’s storms.

The initiative, coordinated with Pinellas County’s similar program for unincorporated areas, allows homeowners to obtain permits for repairs already completed or underway. City staff will assist residents through the application process.

Eligible repairs include work on drywall, windows, doors, electrical systems, plumbing, and mechanical components. Properties in flood-prone areas may require additional documentation.

Officials emphasize that proper permits help homeowners avoid future complications including FEMA audits, reduced property values, property sale issues, and ineligibility for recovery funds.

Residents can access applications and track permit status on the city’s Hurricane Related Topics & Permit Information webpage at ctsfl.us. Those unsure about flood risk in their area can consult Pinellas County’s website for more information.
