Temple Terrace officials are alerting residents about a scam involving individuals posing as a water testing company. The impostors are reportedly going door-to-door, asking to enter homes under the guise of checking water quality on behalf of the city.
City leaders clarified that Temple Terrace does not perform water testing inside private homes.
Police Chief Rob Staley urged residents to be cautious and to contact the police if approached by anyone requesting access to their home for testing.
“We are all about safety here, so if you suspect something suspicious, notify us immediately, and we will come out and address it,” Staley said.
The chief also reminded residents that solicitors must carry a state-required permit and that homeowners should never allow uninvited individuals inside.
Suspicious activity should be reported to Temple Terrace Police at 813-506-6500.
