St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) hit a major milestone in June, welcoming more than 300,000 passengers — the highest monthly total in the airport’s history, according to a recent report from PIE.

So far this year, passenger traffic is up 10% compared to the same period in 2023, fueled in part by the airport’s nonstop service to over 60 destinations and its role as a hub for Allegiant Air.

Airport officials are urging summer travelers to plan ahead due to the surge in volume.

“July is our busiest month and parking will be limited,” the report noted. “Please check your options in advance and consider getting a ride to PIE.”

The airport is on track to serve 2.74 million passengers in 2024 — far surpassing the previous record of 2.49 million set last year, according to St. Pete Catalyst.

From 2014 to 2024, PIE’s passenger numbers have jumped 197%, prompting plans for expanded parking, including a new 1,300-space garage and a 500-space surface lot.
