Largo residents impacted by last month’s EF-1 tornado may now qualify for low-interest federal disaster loans.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has officially recognized the June 25 storm as a qualifying federal disaster, according to a news release from city officials on Wednesday.
Homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that experienced property damage or financial loss may be eligible for assistance. The SBA disaster loans can help cover repair costs, replace personal belongings, and cover essential expenses not reimbursed by insurance.
To support applicants, the SBA will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) at the Largo Public Library starting Thursday. The library is located at 120 Central Park Drive.
SBA staff will be available on-site to assist with loan applications and answer questions about the process.
According to Largo Fire Rescue, up to 50 homes in Ranchero Village sustained damage during the storm.
