In preparation for expected heavy rainfall and potential flooding, Pinellas County officials have activated sandbag distribution stations to assist residents in protecting their properties. The move comes as weather forecasts predict significant rain across the Tampa Bay area in the coming days.
Sandbag stations opened on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, and will remain available to residents while supplies last. The county is providing sandbags at the following locations:
- John Chestnut Park, 2200 East Lake Road, Palm Harbor
- Walsingham Park, 12615 102nd Ave., Seminole
- Lealman Community Park, 4001 38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg
Stations are operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with self-service options available. Residents are required to bring their own shovels to fill sandbags, and county staff will be on-site to assist as needed. Each household is limited to 10 sandbags to ensure equitable distribution.
“Sandbags are a critical tool for residents to protect their homes and businesses from potential flooding,” said Pinellas County Emergency Management Director Cathie Perkins. “We urge residents in flood-prone areas to take advantage of these stations and prepare now.”
The county advises residents to place sandbags strategically around doorways, low-lying areas, and other vulnerable entry points to mitigate water damage. Officials also recommend checking local drainage systems and clearing debris to reduce flood risks.
