Pinellas County commissioners will discuss a proposal on Tuesday for allocating $813 million in federal hurricane recovery funds.
The funding, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is intended to support communities affected by Hurricanes Idalia, Helene, and Milton.
Recently, county officials have hosted public meetings to gather input on spending priorities. Based on that feedback, a draft plan outlines key focus areas aimed at assisting both homeowners and renters:
- Repairing and rebuilding homes
- Supporting strategic relocation and neighborhood revitalization
- Reimbursing homeowners for past recovery expenses
- Rehabilitating and reconstructing small rental properties
- Offering assistance to new homebuyers

The commission meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. A 30-day public comment period will follow, including virtual sessions on May 13 and May 15.
Once finalized, the plan will be submitted to HUD, which will have 45 days to review it this summer.
