Florida has once again solidified its position as a global travel powerhouse, breaking its own tourism records for the sixth consecutive time. In 2024, the state achieved a remarkable 15.5% share of domestic vacation destinations, marking a significant one-point increase from the previous year.
Governor Ron DeSantis attributed this success to policies that emphasize freedom, public safety, and common sense. “Florida is the world’s favorite place to visit,” he noted, highlighting the state’s enduring appeal to travelers worldwide. This record-breaking tourism is not just a testament to Florida’s popularity but also a reflection of its resilience in the face of challenges, such as the hurricanes that impacted the region in 2024.
In the early months of 2025, Florida continued to see growth in international visitation, with a 0.5% increase in Canadian air travel and a substantial 6.5% rise in overseas visitors. This momentum follows a remarkable 2024, where Florida welcomed a record-breaking 142.9 million visitors, cementing its status as the top destination globally. The fourth quarter of 2024 was particularly impressive, with 33.1 million visitors—the highest ever recorded for a fourth quarter—comprising 29.9 million domestic travelers, 2.5 million international visitors, and 742,000 Canadian tourists.
As Florida looks to the future, it remains poised to continue setting new benchmarks in the tourism industry.
