The City of Tampa has initiated pre-applications for a hurricane assistance program aimed at supporting homeowners affected by last year’s storms, Helene and Milton. Funded through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), the city is providing three forms of disaster relief.

Eligible households earning under $133,700 annually can apply. The assistance includes up to $5,000 for mortgage payments, $10,000 to cover insurance deductibles, and $20,000 for home repairs. While homeowners may apply for all three options, the maximum aid per household is capped at $20,000.

With $3.2 million allocated, the program targets residents still recovering from the previous hurricane season. District 7 Council member Luis Viera emphasized the ongoing struggles in heavily impacted areas, stating, “I’ve spoken with countless families through community meetings and home visits in north Tampa. The challenges they face are immense, and we’re committed to supporting them through this ordeal.”

To assist with applications, Tampa is holding two community forums:

  • Seminole Heights Community Meeting: Tuesday, March 25, 3–7 p.m., Seminole Heights Garden Center, 5800 N Central Ave.
  • New Tampa Community Meeting: Thursday, March 27, 3–7 p.m., New Tampa Recreation Center, 17302 Commerce Park Blvd.

For further details, residents are encouraged to attend these events.
