Fire crews continued battling a massive brush fire Wednesday that temporarily shut down access to the Florida Keys.

Both US-1 and Card Sound Road were closed Tuesday as the busy spring break season began. While the 18 Mile Stretch has since reopened, Card Sound Road remained closed as of Wednesday.

Monroe County officials advised residents to steer clear of the affected area.

The fire has scorched approximately 3,600 acres and is 20% contained, according to NBC affiliate WTVJ.

No injuries or damage to nearby structures have been reported.
