The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced this spring’s license-free freshwater fishing weekend, set for April 5 and 6. This event provides residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy Florida’s diverse freshwater fishing spots without needing a license.

Two family-friendly fishing events will take place during the weekend:

Tenoroc Fish Management Area

3829 Tenoroc Mine Road, Lakeland, FL
April 5 | 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Pre-registration required by Friday, April 4, at 5 p.m.
  • Call 863-648-3200 to register.
  • Activities include a casting contest, exhibitor booths, and other outdoor fun.
  • Free lunch provided by Publix and the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida.
  • Bait and a limited number of loaner rods and reels available for kids 15 and under (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Florida Bass Conservation Center

3583 County Road 788, Webster, FL
April 5 | 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Participants should bring their own fishing gear and bait.
  • Free lunch featuring hot dogs and hamburgers provided by Vital Fleet Services.
