As storm recovery efforts continue across Tampa Bay, the city of St. Petersburg has shared updates on key initiatives, including the commencement of repairs at Tropicana Field.
Under the terms of the residency agreement with the Tampa Bay Rays, the city is responsible for the repairs, which are projected to cost approximately $56 million. The project is anticipated to be completed in time for the start of the 2026 season.
Additionally, city officials have confirmed that repair work is also underway at Al Lang Stadium. The facility is expected to be ready for the Rowdies’ home opener on April 12.
In support of residential recovery efforts, the city has issued over 6,500 repair permits to St. Pete residents for storm-related damages. To ease the financial burden, approximately $1 million in permitting fees have been waived, and the waiver program has been extended through June 30.
To expedite the process, the city has bolstered its permit review team and introduced Saturday working hours. Meanwhile, housing code officials are actively monitoring properties within and beyond flood hazard areas to ensure compliance with FEMA regulations. The department’s priority is to help residents meet requirements, safeguarding both their homes and the city’s flood insurance discount.
