Hernando County Government, Development Services, and Emergency Management are notifying residents that damage assessment teams will be visiting homes affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Assessments are already underway, with additional teams deployed starting Monday, February 24, 2025.
These teams, composed of County-hired contractors, will conduct substantial damage evaluations to determine the storms’ impact on local properties. They will carry official identification badges and a verification letter from Hernando County.
Residents with concerns or who wish to confirm a team member’s identity can contact the Hernando County Development Services Department’s Floodplain office at 352-540-6714.
Inspectors may request permission to access your property to document damage. If you prefer they remain outside, simply inform them, and they will comply. Your cooperation is essential in helping the County assess and respond to storm damage.
