As spring break approaches, Tampa Bay area prepares for an influx of visitors. The Sunshine State has several popular destinations, with Tampa ranking No. 8 on AAA’s list of top domestic spring break locations. Other Florida hotspots include Orlando (No. 1), Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

A recent survey highlights theme parks as the second most popular vacation choice this year, making Orlando’s top ranking no surprise. Beach destinations rank third, followed by cities and major metro areas. Miami, at No. 4, even released a video “breaking up with spring break” to deter unruly crowds for 2024.

For those heading to Tampa Bay area beaches, be aware of St. Pete Beach’s pilot program running until April 30. Code Enforcement and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will enforce beach ordinances to maintain safety and cleanliness. This includes prohibiting alcohol on public beaches, protecting dunes, and removing dogs from the beach.

In response to past incidents, including deadly shootings in South Florida and a local state of emergency in 2023, Tampa Bay area police are prepared for potential crowds. As the region recovers from recent storms, officials are committed to keeping the beach a safe haven.
