A slice of the Big Apple is coming to the Sunshine State as H&H Bagels, the iconic New York institution, prepares to open its doors in Tampa this January. The legendary bagel shop will make its Florida debut at 1155 South Dale Mabry Highway, with doors expected to open within the next four weeks.
A New York Legend Comes South
Since its founding in 1972, H&H Bagels has become more than just a bagel shop—it’s a cultural touchstone of Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Pop culture fans might recognize the name from appearances in both “Seinfeld” and “Sex and the City,” but New Yorkers know it as their go-to spot for authentic, kettle-boiled bagels made with the city’s famous tap water.
Keeping It Authentic
Tampa bagel enthusiasts won’t have to worry about compromised quality in this southern outpost. H&H is maintaining its authenticity by hand-rolling and kettle-boiling its signature dough in New York before shipping it to Tampa for the final baking process. This approach ensures that Tampa customers will experience the same chewy, perfectly textured bagels that made the original location famous.
Local Bagel Scene
While H&H’s arrival marks an exciting addition to Tampa’s culinary landscape, the city already boasts several beloved bagel destinations, including:
- Pete’s General
- Sesame Hyde Park
- Zio’s New York Bagels
- New York Bagel Cafe
These local establishments have built their own loyal following, contributing to Tampa’s growing reputation as a destination for quality bagels.
