A captain is offering his sailboat for $1 after it washed ashore during rough waters off Florida’s east coast.

Allan Askar, headed from St. Augustine to the Dominican Republic, had to anchor the boat after 16 hours to rest, but it ended up washing ashore on New Smyrna Beach.

Now, Askar has listed his 1977 sailboat on Craigslist for just $1, as recovering it would cost around $20,000 to $25,000.

The beached boat has drawn attention from locals, with some considering the purchase.

In seeking a buyer, Askar mentioned he’d help cover the cost of removing the boat from the beach, noting its solid construction and reliability. However, he has only 30 days from the wreck date to remove the sailboat or face fines or jail time.
