The Florida Department of Lottery has taken decisive action against an unauthorized third-party operation selling Florida Lottery tickets on the internet.

Per a Florida Lottery press release, an online courier service called “The Lotter” was found selling lottery tickets in partnership with the retailer “ZaZa Accessories.”

“The Florida Lottery actively closes down rogue operators who pose a threat to scam Florida residents,” stated John F. Davis, Secretary for the Florida Lottery. “Our commitment is to uphold the integrity of the Florida Lottery, which supports education within our state and ensures every player participates in an equitable game. Beware, bad actors.”

The Lotter was identified through the Florida Lottery’s diligent monitoring and enforcement initiatives policing crime.

Steven Harriett, Florida Lottery’s Director of Security, emphasized that such activities erode the lottery’s fairness and public trust, which they view with utmost seriousness.

“The actions of this online courier and the involved retailer not only contravene state law but also tarnish the experience for our dedicated players and ethical retailers. We will persist in collaboration with law enforcement to eliminate illegal practices and preserve the public’s trust in the Florida Lottery,” Harriett remarked.

The Florida Lottery advises all players to purchase tickets exclusively from authorized retailers. Engaging with third-party services not only breaks the law but also exposes individuals to risks like fraud, misrepresentation, and potential forfeiture of any winnings.
