Residents of the Lantern Travel Park in Hudson in the Tampa Bay area are confronting a dire situation after more than two months without electricity, compounded by potential eviction threats from their landlord.
The property management is demanding residents make specific repairs to meet county safety guidelines, conditioning lease renewals on compliance with these requirements. If residents fail to complete necessary improvements by January 1st, they could face eviction.
Priscilla Tobin, a long-time resident, expressed her frustration with the ultimatum. “Why invest money in repairs if I’m going to be evicted anyway?” she asked.

Property Manager Elizabeth Moore defended the decision, stating, “We can’t continue to accommodate residents who aren’t addressing safety concerns. They need to take care of the packages the county has outlined to make their homes safe.”
The dispute highlights the ongoing challenges faced by mobile home communities in the aftermath of consecutive hurricanes. Residents are now exploring legal options, preparing to potentially challenge the eviction notices in court.
The situation remains tense, with residents caught between the immediate need for power restoration and the threat of losing their homes.
