Hurricanes Helene and Milton damaged many homes and displaced several residents, forcing them to flee their homes only to return to ruin. But, the storms didn’t spare local businesses, either. John’s Pass is still rebuilding and others won’t return – Bark Life on Indian Shores and Slyce Indian Rocks Beach are just two. However, some establishments have managed to mount a comeback and one is very familiar to locals.
Keegan’s Seafood Grille, a beloved dining destination in Indian Rocks Beach, has long been a hit with both locals and tourists.
“It’s fresh seafood. Everything is homemade, including the sauces,” shared Jaimee Krause, the restaurant’s general manager, in an interview with Fox 13 News Tampa Bay.
Many patrons enjoy catching a stunning sunset across the street before heading over to Keegan’s for a meal. The restaurant’s chargrilled octopus is the standout favorite, while dishes featuring grouper—whether in sandwiches or dinner platters—are always in high demand. During stone crab season, these delicacies also fly out of the kitchen.
“The food is always good, and the staff is always friendly. It’s a great place to come,” said Martin Thomas, a longtime local customer.
Hurricane Helene, however, brought significant challenges. The storm surge caused severe damage to Keegan’s gas lines and kitchen equipment, forcing the restaurant to close for six weeks.
“It’s hundreds of thousands of dollars, plus all the equipment you have to buy,” explained Krause.
Thanks to relentless effort and dedication, Keegan’s reopened to an overwhelming response, with customers flocking back during their first weekend of business.
Keegan’s Seafood Grille, located at 1519 Gulf Boulevard in Indian Rocks Beach, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Stop by to experience their fresh, homemade seafood and welcoming atmosphere.
