The American Automobile Association (AAA) reports that gas prices in Florida are trending lower after a 15-cent increase.
Last week, Florida’s average gas price nearly fell below the $3 per gallon mark, according to a new AAA report. The average dropped to $3.01 per gallon last Monday before rising by an average of 14 cents.
AAA officials stated that the state average peaked mid-week at $3.15 per gallon before decreasing again over the weekend.
According to AAA, drivers are now paying 9 cents more per gallon compared to the previous week.
Regionally, the most expensive markets for gasoline in Florida were West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.27), Naples ($3.18), and Gainesville ($3.18). The least expensive markets were Panama City ($2.79), Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($2.81), and Pensacola ($2.91). In Tampa Bay, the average stands at $3.14 per gallon for regular grade, while premium is at $3.92 per gallon.
AAA offered the following tips to save on gasoline:
- Combine errands to reduce driving time.
- Shop around for the best gas prices in your area.
- Pay with cash, as some retailers charge extra per gallon for credit card payments.
- Remove excess weight from your vehicle, as every 100 pounds removed can improve fuel economy by 1-2 percent.
- Drive conservatively, as aggressive acceleration and speeding reduce fuel economy.
As of Nov. 11, Florida’s average gas prices are:
- Regular: $3.101
- Mid-Grade: $3.537
- Premium: $3.861
- Diesel: $3.450
