The Big Lots stores in St. Pete’s Fossil Park and Tyrone neighborhoods will permanently close by early January.

The Ohio-based discount retailer is shutting down its locations at 1055 62nd Avenue North in Rutland Plaza and 950 58th Street North in Tyrone Gardens as part of a broader company restructuring.

Earlier this year, Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced plans to close over 500 stores nationwide, including right here in Tampa Bay. As part of the Chapter 11 sale agreement, Nexus Capital will acquire Big Lots’ assets and operations.

New York-based A&G Real Estate Partners is handling bids for the latest lease auction, including 51 new-to-market leases and 204 previously marketed leases.
