St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch announced Friday a series of temporary relief measures to help residents and businesses struggling with utility payments in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The relief package includes:

  • Waiver of late fees and notice fees on utility bills
  • Suspension of water service disconnections for non-payment
  • Waiver of business tax late fees
  • Temporary halt to utility lien filings

These measures apply to bills due between September 25 and December 31, 2024. “The damage and destruction from back-to-back hurricanes has caused a variety of challenges to citizens and businesses citywide,” Mayor Welch said. “When the City is able to do so, we strive to lessen the economic hardship facing our utility customers.”

While the city encourages residents who can pay their bills to stay current, those experiencing financial difficulties can contact the St. Petersburg Utility Customer Service Call Center at 727-893-7341. The center operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The relief measures will remain in effect through December 31, 2024, unless otherwise announced.
