Following the widespread destruction wrought by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Pinellas County is bouncing back and taking steps to restore normalcy. The Pinellas County Government has announced the reopening of several parks, providing much-needed respite and recreational opportunities for residents. This move signals a significant milestone in the county’s recovery efforts, offering a glimpse of hope and community spirit amidst the ongoing restoration work.

Parks Reopening October 26 at 12:00 PM

  • Boca Ciega Millenium Park
  • Ridgecrest Park
  • Sawgrass Lake Park
  • Weedon Island Preserve
  • Weedon Island Preserve Cultural & Natural History Center

Previously Reopened Parks (October 19)

  • A.L. Anderson Park
  • Booker Creek Preserve
  • Eagle Lake Park
  • John Chestnut Sr. Park
  • Philippe Park
  • Ray Neri Park (partial closure due to construction)
  • Walsingham Park

Boat Ramps Now Open

  • Sutherland Park Blvd.
  • Belleair Causeway

Visitor Advisory

  • Expect limited access to certain trails and amenities during ongoing cleanup
  • Be prepared for:
    • Tall grass
    • Remaining debris
    • Increased wildlife activity in previously flooded areas
  • Avoid downed trees and marked off-limits areas
  • Report concerns to on-site park rangers

Temporary Closures

  • Florida Botanical Gardens (serving as FEMA Disaster Recovery Center)
  • Parks & Conservation Resources Administration building (serving as FEMA Disaster Recovery Center)
  • All other county parks remain closed until further notice

Important Notes

  • Do not enter closed parks under any circumstances
  • Campground and shelter reservations during closure periods will be refunded
  • Boat ramp users should exercise caution due to possible underwater hazards
