To spite two back-to-back hurricanes, life continues, and Halloween is around the corner on Oct. 31, ready or not. St. Petersburg will host a large, free event this Sunday, October 27, to remind kids of the joys of costumes, family time, and trick-or-treating.
The fourth annual Halloween on Central will take place this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., with 22 blocks of Central Avenue (Grand Central and EDGE Districts) closed to traffic. Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority buses, including the SunRunner, will be fare-free during the event (east-west borders: MLK (9th Street) to 31st Street). Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome, especially in costume.
Highlights include:
- EDGE District’s Kooky Spooky: DJs, dance contests, costume contests, sidewalk chalk, pop-up shops, and live Radio At. Pete broadcasts.
- LocalShops1’s Voodoo Vendor Village: Halloween market with over 100 vendors and food trucks.
- Howl-o-Ween by the Dog Bar: Weiner dog races (1-3 p.m.), award ceremony (4 p.m.), and dog costume parade (4:30 p.m.).
- Frankenpride! by St. Pete Pride: DJ, costume contest (12-2 p.m.), live performances (1-2 p.m.), drag show (2-3 p.m.), dance (3-4 p.m.), runway show (4-4:15 p.m.), and Gibbs High Marching Band.
