Pinellas County is still shining after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. From the sponge docks to historic 8th Avenue in Pass-a-Grille, businesses are reopening and celebrating the Sunshine State. Tarpon Springs is bouncing back and has announced the return of its annual Seafood Festival from November 8-10.

The Tarpon Springs Seafood Festival, located at the Sponge Docks (735 Dodecanese Boulevard), is a three-day celebration of all things seafood. The event offers a curated selection of local and regional small businesses, showcasing fresh seafood, handmade nautical arts, crafts, and other maritime delights. Best of all, admission is free. The festival runs:

  • Friday, November 8: 12 pm to 9 pm
  • Saturday, November 9: 10 am to 9 pm
  • Sunday, November 10: 10 am to 5 pm

Oyster-Eating Challenge and More

New this year, the festival will feature an Oyster-Eating Contest on Saturday, November 9, at 1 pm, sponsored by Local Seas Fisheries, and a Stone Crab Eating Contest on Sunday, November 10th, at 1 pm, sponsored by Lockhart’s Seafood. Entry fees apply, and pre-registration is required for both contests.

Culinary excitement peaks with the 2nd annual Master Chefs of the Sea Competition, where Tampa Bay’s best seafood dishes will be crowned. Registered chefs will compete for 10 awards, including Best Shellfish Sensation, Best Florida Fish Dish, Best “Other” Creation, Most Imaginative, Most Crave-Worthy, and Grand Champion. A panel of local food bloggers and community influencers will judge entries based on appearance, flavor, and flair. Winners will be announced on Friday, and their award-winning dishes will be available throughout the weekend.
