The Galaxy Hotel, located at 101 3rd Ave. N. in downtown St. Pete, has soft-opened and is set for an official opening in November or December. The guest rooms are simple, modern, and brightly colored, featuring clean, minimalist art. The first-floor Grain Restaurant and Bar will soon offer fresh Italian cuisine, while the rooftop bar promises some of the best bayside views in the city.

During the soft-opening phase, the restaurant and rooftop bar remain closed, but guests can still enjoy St. Pete’s wide selection of restaurants, bars, museums, and parks—all within walking distance.

Construction on the hotel began nearly six years ago in 2018, although the project was approved over 15 years prior. The hotel is owned by Savni Bakrac, who also owns the Ponce de Leon. The Benson Hospitality Group, known for local favorites like Fortu, Black Cattle Burger, and Top Slice Pizzeria, will handle food and beverage services.

Galaxy Hotel Offers Shelter After Hurricane Milton

Following Hurricane Milton’s devastating landfall in Florida on October 9, the hotel received an emergency Temporary Certificate of Occupancy or TCO, allowing it to offer refuge to needy families. Although the grand opening was not envisioned, the management took pride in providing essential services during this crisis.

“We have housed line workers, families, and city employees who needed a safe place to stay. Many have expressed their gratitude for this safe haven, and it’s been comforting to know we can provide that for them,” said the VP of Operations for Benson Hospitality Group.
