Pinellas County is adjusting its storm debris operations to accelerate the cleanup process following the recent hurricane. Key changes include:
1. East Lake Site Closure:
– Location: Corner of Keystone Road and East Lake Road
– Closes to public: Sunday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
– Converts to contractor-only use: Monday, Oct. 21
2. Clearwater Site Extended Hours:
– Location: 13600 Icot Boulevard
– New hours: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, starting Monday
The East Lake site closure aims to improve efficiency, as it can’t safely handle both resident and large-scale contractor drop-offs simultaneously. This change will significantly reduce contractor travel time, speeding up debris removal from streets.
Progress Update:
As of Oct. 17 at 4 p.m., contractors have collected over 18,000 cubic yards of storm debris (1,070+ loads) in unincorporated Pinellas County.
