Barbra Hernandez, the County Communications Director, provided an update on Monday, revealing that unincorporated areas alone contain approximately 1 million cubic yards of residential debris.
“We’re dealing with a substantial operation here,” Hernandez stated. “It’s not something we can resolve in just a week or two.”
Hernandez also noted that the consecutive impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton have complicated the cleanup efforts significantly.
Debris Disposal Options
For residents wishing to dispose of debris themselves, the county has established two drop-off locations:
* 13600 Icot Boulevard, Clearwater
* The intersection of Keystone Road and East Lake Road, East Lake
These sites are operational daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
County officials have also indicated that curbside collection of residential debris in unincorporated areas will recommence in the near future.
