A Whimsical Welcome
As patrons approach Daycation, they’ll be greeted by a playful mural of a dancing French Bulldog on the front door, courtesy of local artist Jeff Williams. This charming mascot, inspired by owner Rachel Zhang’s beloved pet Dango, sets the tone for the warm and inviting atmosphere within.
Intimate Space, Thoughtful Design
Despite its compact 494-square-foot interior, Daycation maximizes its space through clever design. The shop features a single table, bar seating for three, and additional outdoor seating options, creating an open and welcoming environment.
A Fusion of Flavors
Daycation’s menu is a carefully curated blend of Asian-inspired signature drinks and classic coffee shop favorites. Zhang emphasizes that each sip is meant to evoke a memory or transport patrons to a different place, living up to the shop’s evocative name.
Signature Creations
One standout offering is the “Morning Forest,” a harmonious blend of ceremonial-grade matcha from Kyoto, house-made jasmine syrup, topped with espresso and jasmine buds. This drink exemplifies Daycation’s commitment to crafting unique, sensory experiences.
Quality at the Core
Partnering with Torch Coffee, Daycation will feature a custom coffee blend sourced from Yunnan, China, and Guatemala. The shop will offer various brewing methods, including pour-over and cold brew options. Tea enthusiasts can look forward to premium selections like Da Hong Pao and White Peony, sourced directly from family farms in Fujian, China.
A Dream Realized
For Zhang, Daycation represents the fulfillment of a long-held aspiration. Inspired by St. Petersburg’s dynamic community, she decided to fast-track her dream of owning a coffee shop, aiming to contribute a unique cultural touch to the local coffee landscape.
As Daycation prepares to open its doors, St. Petersburg residents and visitors alike can anticipate a new destination that promises not just a caffeine fix, but a journey for the senses. With its blend of Asian influences, artisanal approach, and welcoming atmosphere, Daycation is set to become a cherished addition to downtown St. Pete’s diverse culinary tapestry.
