Tyrone Square Mall is getting a new tenant. But this time, instead of a retailer, it’s games that will be offered to the public. And, the new business is going to be located just down from the food court, right next to Old Navy.
Opened in 1972, the indoor mall at the intersection of its namesake and 66th Street running along its east side, also bordered by 22nd Avenue to its south, has gone through several changes over the years. Previously, it was home to an expansive video arcade and movie theaters, the latter of which disappeared for many years but returned with another chain erecting a building on the northwest section of the property.
Currently, most of the spaces are occupied in the enclosed mall, although approximately 20 unoccupied spots remain, which include a dark full-service nail salon near Dick’s Sporting Goods and three empty restaurants, one of which was previously home to Ruby Tuesday and another to Hooters.
Details are not available at this time, but the location was previously a sports jersey apparel store and prior to that, a calendar retailer.
